Born and raised in Ohio, Matt McCune attended the Ohio State University, where he was a four-year letter winner on the OSU soccer team. A graduate of the Ohio State University’s Knowlton School of Architecture, Matt has since spent his entire professional career in real estate.
He began his journey toward Cadence at a large property management company. While there Matt managed a 360-unit apartment complex on the east side of Columbus, and he was involved with large-scale forecasting and budgeting. During this time, Matt acquired the deft touch required for finding a property’s NOI through the balancing act of controlling expenses and maximizing income. This cumulative, intimate knowledge of how properties are run is the foundation of the Cadence business model today.
In 2005 Matt was recruited by Marcus and Millchap, the largest multifamily brokerage company in the country. There, he worked alongside some of the Midwest’s most influential multifamily brokers, and was involved in multiple nationally known and marketed transactions, including a $20 million affordable housing portfolio and a $25 million student housing portfolio.
Matt and his team left Marcus and Millichap in 2008 to start a third party brokerage arm for one of the largest developers and multifamily owner/operators in Ohio. During the 2008-2010 downturn in the real estate markets, they developed a 500-unit portfolio of apartments in tertiary markets in Ohio.
As the market began its upswing in 2011, brokerage again became Matt’s focus. For the following four years he brokered the sale of more than 4,500 units at a value of more than $180 million. More than 90 percent of the sales represented off-market properties, and solidified Matt’s expertise in off-market sales.
In 2016, Matt founded Cadence Real Estate Investment Group as a way to offer clients a more personalized experience and overall, better product. Thanks to Matt’s diverse background and Cadence’s ability to move efficiently, Cadence is in a position to quickly react to market conditions and cater the company’s services to better meet the needs of their clients.
Matt is also an internationally ranked triathlete, having competed at the Ironman World Championships twice. In his free time, you can find him on a bike somewhere: on the streets of Columbus in the warmer months, during the colder months, spinning to nowhere in a basement while dreaming about the former.
Matt is a licensed real estate broker in the state of Ohio.
With more than 12 years of experience, Pete brings a diverse background to Cadence, specializing in consulting clients on all matters related to multi-family, land and retail property transactions.
Prior to joining Cadence, Pete served as Development Associate for Forest City Retail Trust, Inc. (NYSE: FCE-A), where he was responsible for retail-leasing activity and land sales on noted mixed-use developments including The Orchard Town Center, Northfield Stapleton, South Bay Galleria, and Victoria Gardens.
Additionally, Pete served as Leasing Director for DDR Corp. (NYSE: DDR) handling all retail-leasing activity for a 3.5 million square foot power-center portfolio throughout Ohio and New York including Easton Market, Polaris Town Center, Walden Consumer Square, West Bay Plaza, Sun Center and Macedonia Commons.
Pete is also the owner and principal of LaRosa Companies, LLC., a multi-family investment portfolio in Ohio.
A Northeast Ohio native, Pete is an avid Cleveland sports fan, and enjoys golf, tennis, skiing, and traveling. Pete earned a B.S. in Consumer Affairs from The Ohio State University in 2006, and is a licensed real estate salesperson in the state of Ohio. He is an active member of Columbus Next Partnership and The Urban Land Institute.
